Giannis Antetokounmpo wins the MVP award for the second straight year, Last players to achieve this feat is Stephen Curry who won back to back MVP award in the 2015 and 2016 seasons. 11th time any NBA history NBA players won back to back MVP trophy.

Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes the only third NBA player in NBA history to win the MVP award and defensive player of the year award in the same year. The other two greats are Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon who achieve this feat. Michael Jordan won the MVP award and Defensive player award in the 1987-94 season and Olajuwon won these awards in the 1993-94 season.
It was a competition between Giannis, LeBron James, and James Harden to win the MVP award but it already decided with the regular season's performance by Giannis that he will be the winner of this trophy. In NBA 14 players have won MVP award multiple times and Giannis becomes one of them after this MVP award. Giannis becomes 2nd overseas player after Steve Nash, to do this in NBA. Steve Nash won the MVP award in 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.

Giannis always plays great in the regular season but when it comes to the postseason he always fell sort to win a title or making into the finals. This year's postseason, Milwaukee Bucks put them out of the postseason in the second round.

James Harden averaged scored 34.3 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 7.5 APG, 1.8 SPG, and 0.9 BPG. When it comes to number James Harden always comes in the MVP race. He led his team to 4th place in the Western Conference Finals.
